Fallen Teachers Memorial

I covered the unveiling of a really great memorial today to honor teachers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The memorial is located on the edge of town at the National Teachers Hall of Fame on the Emporia State University campus, right next to a historic one-room schoolhouse that is furnished like it's still in the 1890s. There were quite a few important people who travelled here to speak, including a teacher from Sandy Hook Elementary, the president of the Newtown teachers union, and the president of the National Education Association.

It was hard to point a big lens at people crying as the names of the teachers were read, but it led to some photos that, hopefully, give a true representation of the mood of the event.
